To recap the 2024 Niagara Silver Championship - during three days of rigorous competition, 53 Personal Records were set by our 18 competing athletes! STAQ Swimmers shined at the NYPHSAA Section IV Class A Championship, held in on February 14, 2024 in Ernie Davis Natatorium (prelims) and February 17, 2024 at Watkins Glen High School (finals). The boys’ varsity teams from Binghamton, Corning-Painted Post, Elmira, Horseheads, Ithaca, Vestal and Union Endicott competed for the Sectional Championship Title, with Horseheads advancing to the first place and Corning-Painted Post coming in as a runner-up. All smiles and fun at the 2024 Victor New Year's Invitational! It was unbelievable! Our athletes swam so well at the meet. Many went in with no expectations, and for some it was their first meet ever. They went out there with smiles on their faces just to have fun and ... they all were amazing! Shoonfon Li had had very strong performance this weekend at the 2023 STAR Invitational in Buffalo, NY. He opened the meet with a 2nd place finish in the 400 IM with a 4:06.82, following that up the next night with a new PR in the 100 back of 53.05 to place 3rd. And on the final night he brought home two more 2nd place finishes in the 200 back with a 1:54.45, and a new PR in the 200 breast with a 2:05.87.
