STAQ Swimmers Earn Gold at Niagara Silver Championships

Excitement. Energy. Strength. Fatigue. Disappointment. Resilience. Vigor. Success. So many emotions packed in one weekend!

To recap the 2024 Niagara Silver Championship - during three days of rigorous competition, 53 Personal Records were set by our 18 competing athletes!

Gold qualifying times were achieved by Sharon DePedro, Shawn DePedro, Jayden Dong, Derek Guo, John McKane and Adam Zhou.

STAQ had three individual Gold Medalists in Sharon De Pedro, Shawn De Pedro, and Adam Zhou!

517 total points ranked our team #10 among 33 participating teams.

Too many highlights during the weekend to list all here - so let's celebrate the accomplishments of our relay teams:

The team of Aidan Clark, Derek Guo, John McKane and Jaydon Dong were 4th in 200Y Boys Medley relay with the time of 1:54.23.

The team of Alexys Nale, Erika Liu, Alyssa Reimsnyder and Ellie Ballard were 5th in the 200Y Girls Medley relay with the time of 2:05.52.

The team of Daniel Jin, Adam Zhou, Tyler Nale and Michael Jin were 7th in the 200Y Boys Medley relay with the time of 2:48.29.

The team of Alexys Nale, Ellie Ballard, Nicole Miller and Erika Liu claimed 8th place in the 200Y Free relay.

The team of Shawn DePedro, Derek Guo, Jayden Dong and Aidan Clark won a bronze medal in the 200Y Free relay.

The team of Tyler Nale, Daniel Jin, Brayden Liu and Michel Jin were 14th in the 200Y Free relay.

Additionally, the coaches set a goal for the kids where if they collectively dropped 60 seconds, Coach John would have a special challenge to swim...so naturally the team came together and dropped a total of 186 seconds in their events! Stay tuned for when Coach John will uphold his end of the deal!

Oh yes, was it mentioned that all four STAQ coaches were on deck this weekend to support our swimmers?! This team rocks!!! Thank you to the STAQ coaches Anthony Furstoss, Katherine McKane, Chris Nale and John Nord for your commitment that made these results possible!!!
