Last Week to Dive into STAQ’s Summer Programs!

John Nord

Dear Families:

The final week of STAQ’s summer swim programs is quickly approaching – don’t miss your chance to make a splash!  From Intro to Swimming lessons for our younger swimmers to advanced Stroke School Clinic for more experienced participants, STAQ offers a range of sessions designed to keep everyone engaged and learning.  Our friendly instructors are ready to help swimmers of all ages and abilities shine.  Below is a brief summary of the programs offered during the week of August 11-15, 2025.   All sessions will be held at Corning-Painted Post High School, 201 Cantigney Street, Corning, NY.

Intro to Swimming

Program Description:  Our lessons are designed for preschoolers and elementary school students (ages 4-11) who have little or no swimming experience.  Participants will focus on water adjustment, basic swimming competency, and water safety skills.  Students learn basic skills, such as breath control, submersion, floating and gliding.

Times:  1:45pm – 2:20pm

Cost: $95

Stroke School Clinic

Program Description – Open to swimmers ages 7 to 13.  Participants are required to have basic swimming competency.  They must be comfortable putting their head in the water.  Swimmers should be able to float on front and back without assistance.  Swimmers must be able to swim to exit the water safely.  If a swimmer does not yet have these readiness skills, we suggest that he/she enrolls in the Intro to Swim lessons, Corning Family YMCA swim lessons or similar programs.  The STAQ Stroke School Clinic will focus on water stamina, stroke development, and stroke mechanics. All groups are taught the same skills but are divided according to their developmental milestones.

Times:  Session 1: 12:00pm – 1:30pm
               Session 2: 2:00pm – 3:30pm

Cost: $150
