Upcoming ARC Lifeguard Certification Training

John Nord

Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce that STAQ will be offering the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Training on July 11–13, 2025! This is a fantastic opportunity for our community, and we encourage all parents who meet the prerequisites to consider enrolling in this essential training.

Eligibility Requirements: To participate in the course, you must be at least 15 years old by the last scheduled class session. We especially urge our Age Group 1 parents to take advantage of this opportunity, as having parent-volunteers lifeguarding during our practices and home meets will greatly benefit STAQ.

Prerequisite Swimming Skills Evaluation: Before enrolling, participants must successfully complete a swimming skills evaluation, which includes the following:

  1. Swim 150 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes without using hands, and then swim an additional 50 yards.
  2. Swim 20 yards, perform a surface dive to retrieve a 10-pound brick from a depth of 7-10 feet, return to the surface, and swim back to the starting point with the brick within 1 minute and 40 seconds. Please note that swim goggles are not allowed for this event.

We encourage you to share the attached flyer with anyone who might be interested in this training. Your support in generating interest is greatly appreciated!  If you have any questions regarding this training, please contact Katherine McKane at [email protected]

Thank you for your commitment to our community and for considering this valuable training opportunity.

Best regards,

~STAQ Coaches and Board
