The Championship season continues with remarkable results and incredible displays of talent and perseverence! At the Niagara Silver Championships, every single athlete walked away with a new PR and many with new Gold qualifying times, as well as those who made finals all saw time drops and fantastic races. Many smiles were seen and the coaches were beaming with pride.

  • Ellie Ballard placed 3rd overall in the 200 freestyle (PR) and her first gold time ever! As well as 9th in the 500 freestyle, 5th in the 50 freestyle (PR), 6th in the 1650 freestyle, 9th in the 100 freestyle (PR), and 12th in the 1000 freestyle
  • Sharon De Pedro placed 23rd in the 50 breaststroke (PR), 47th in the 100 IM (PR), 27th in the 100 breaststroke (PR), and 47th in the 100 freestyle (PR)
  • Sheldon De Pedro placed 15th in the 50 breaststroke, 19th in the 100 IM, 4th in the 100 breaststroke (PR & gold time), and 34th in the 50 backstroke
  • Derek Guo placed 9th in the 200 freestyle (PR), 9th in the 50 freestyle (PR & gold time), 7th in the 100 backstroke in prelims, 9th in the 100 free in prelims, and 22nd in the 100 fly in prelims
  • Gabriel Hartley placed 15th in the 100 backstroke (PR), 10th in the 50 freestyle (PR), 6th in the 100 IM (PR), and was part of the 15th place 200 free relay
  • Gabby Janeski placed 8th in the 500 freestyle (PR), 2nd in the 200 freestyle (PR & gold time), and 3rd in the 100 backstroke (PR)
  • John McKane placed 1st in the 200 backstroke (PR & gold time), 10th in the 50 freestyle (PR & gold time), 4th in the 1000 freestyle (PR), 10th in the 100 freestyle (PR & gold time), and 2nd in the 200 IM (PR & gold time)
  • Tyler Nale placed 9th in the 500 freestyle (PR), 5th in the 50 breaststroke (PR & gold time), 12th in the 50 freestyle, 5th in the 100 IM (PR & gold time), was part of the 15th place 200 free relay, 11th in the 100 freestyle (PR), and was part of the 11th place 200 medley relay
  • Anna Sun placed 6th in the 50 backstroke (PR & gold time), 8th in the 100 breaststroke (PR & gold time), and 9th in the 200 freestyle (PR & gold time)
  • Eddie Sun placed 4th in the 200 IM (PR), 6th in the 200 freestyle, 23rd in the 50 freestyle, 17th in the 100 IM, was part of the 15th place 200 free relay, 17th in the 50 backstroke (PR), 18th in the 100 freestyle (PR), and was part of the 11th place 200 medley relay
  • Adam Zhou placed 4th in the 50 breaststroke (PR & gold time), 23rd in the 50 backstroke (PR), 4th in the 100 breaststroke (PR), 9th in the 50 butterfly (PR), and was part of the 11th place 200 medley relay
  • Amory Zhou placed 10th in the 50 breaststroke (PR & gold time), 15th in the 100 IM (PR), was part of the 15th place 200 free relay, 1st in the 100 breaststroke (PR & gold time), 31st in the 100 freestyle (PR), and was part of the 11th place 200 medley relay
  • James Zhuang placed 20th in the 100 breaststroke, 41st in the 50 freestyle, and 32nd in the 100 IM (PR)

 

Soon after, several of the STAQ senior boys represented Corning-Painted Post high school at the NYSPHSAA State Championships in Ithaca! This was the first time any of these boys had qualified for the State Championships, and they held their own in a field of over 350 of the most elite swimmers NYS has to offer.

  • Joey Crisco, Shawn De Pedro, JP Sierzant, and Marvin Reimsnyder placed 21st overall in the 200 medley relay
  • Joey Crisco placed 43rd in the 200 IM and 34th overall in the 100 breaststroke 
  • Joey Crisco, JP Sierzant, Mark Hong, and Marvin Reimsnyder placed 17th overall in the 200 freestyle relay

 

Impressive swims so far, and we're just getting started! Looking forward to seeing more results soon at the Gold Championship meets and beyond!
