As we head into the championship season here, it's important to take care of yourself, keep one's spirits high and always bring great energy! A happy swimmer is a fast swimmer! STAQ boys did a terrific job opening the championship season doing just that- and in doing so helped the Corning-Painted Post boys varsity team in becoming the 2025 Section IV Class A Champions! One of their rewards was getting to toss their coaches in the pool...some more gracefully than others...

The boys will also be representing C-PP at the upcoming NYSPHSAA State Championships in a couple weeks competing in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay, and with two individual events.

 

At the Section IV Championship meet, many personal records fell...

  • Jack Casper finished 6th in the 200 free, and 4th in the 500 free- both PRs​​
  • Joey Crisco finished 1st in the 200 IM with a PR and STAQ record during prelims and 1st in the 100 breaststroke, both state qualifying times, and was a part of both the state qualifying 1st place 200 medley relay and 1st place 200 freestyle relay (leading off the 200 freestyle relay with a new 50 free STAQ record and PR...)
  • Shawn De Pedro finished 4th in the 100 fly and 2nd in the 100 breaststroke, both PRs, and was part of the state qualifying 1st place 200 medley relay team and the 2nd place 400 freestyle relay team
  • Liam Gill finished 6th in the 50 free with a PR during prelims, 9th in the 100 free with a PR, and was part of the 2nd place 400 freestyle relay team
  • Derek Guo finished 4th in the 200 IM with a PR, and 5th in the 100 breaststroke
  • Mark Hong finished 7th in the 50 free and 8th in the 100 free, and was part of the state qualifying 1st place 200 freestyle relay and the 2nd place 400 freestyle relay
  • Keith Huff finished 5th in the 200 free and 3rd in the 500 free- both PRs, and was part of the 2nd place 400 freestyle relay leading off with a 100 free PR
  • Kaeden Martinez finished 9th in the 200 IM with a PR and 9th in the 100 back with a PR during prelims
  • John McKane finished 7th in the 100 fly and 3rd in the 100 back- both PRs in prelims
  • Marvin Reimsnyder finished 3rd in the 50 free and 1st in the 100 fly with a PR, and was a part of both the state qualifying 1st place 200 medley relay and 1st place 200 freestyle relay
  • JP Sierzant finished 2nd in the 50 free and 1st in the 100 free, and was a part of both the state qualifying 1st place 200 medley relay and 1st place 200 freestyle relay
  • Owen VanGorden competed exhibition in the 50 free and finished 17th in the 100 fly- both PRs
  • Thomas Vanslyke competed exhibition in the 50 free and 100 breast- both PRs
  • Landon Weed competed exhibition in the 50 free earning a PR, and the 100 free
  • Kyle Williams finished 14th in the 200 free and 10th in the 100 back- both PRs
  • Winston Wu finished 12th in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 breast with a PR
  • Ethan Yarnell finished 12th in the 100 free with a PR in prelims and 6th in the 100 back with a PR

 

We are very excited to see the continued time drops throughout this championship season! Everyone has been putting in great work and now's the time to see the results. See you on deck!
