STAQ Wraps Up a Terrific Summer
What a great way to finish up our 2024 summer swim season! Thursday we were thrilled to host our friends from the Waverly Area Aquatics Club for an exciting dual meet- we are greatful for your partnership WAAC! During the meet, STAQ swimmers dropped an astounding combined 319.6 seconds off their PRs! What an incredible achievement! Everyone did fantastic who swam; a few highlights were: Lia Kunigonis dropping 11.84 seconds, Lizzie Huff dropping 11.86 seconds, Daniel Zhang dropping 13.07 seconds, Marvin Reimsnyder with 13.23 seconds, Otkur Turghun with 14.17 seconds, Marlo Treacy with 15.88 seconds, Amory Zhou shaving off 23.09 seconds, Clare Pedicone dropping 25.87 seconds, Kyle Zhang dropping a huge 34.39 seconds, and Leah Kauffman dropping a whopping 43.14 seconds- amazing!
This meet served as an excellent way to showcase all the hard work the kids have been putting in here at STAQ, and they all certainly saw the results! All our swimmers raced against their friends and training partners, and pushed each other with fantastic races, all while supporting each other and having fun in the process. So much fun was had, in fact, that the coaches even decided to get in as well! To cap the meet off, the kids and coaches all put together some very competitive 200 free relays and battled it out to the last stroke. But in the end, besting all others including the coaches relay, it was the team of Alexys Nale, Keith Huff, Liam Gill, and Joey Crisco who emerged victorious- congratulations!
A big Thank you! to all the parents and community volunteers for making our dual meet a great success. Whether you officiated, timed, delivered pizza or cheered loudly from the stands, we appreciate you and can't thank you enough for your support!
Our season wrapped up Friday with a surprise showing of three more STAQ swimmers conquering the STAQ 800 IM Challenge, cheered on by their teammates- so congratulations to Joey Crisco, Alexys Nale and Tyler Nale for completing the challenge! They have all been recognized on our team website, and will be receiving their hard-earned STAQ 800 IM Challenge awards. Afterward, the team all came together for several fun rounds of water polo. Our swimmers work hard and play hard; many laughs and smiles were had during the game as the kids worked together to overcome challenges and "extra rules" that Coach John kept adding in...
So let's all enjoy a break now to decompress and reflect on an incredibly successful season. We will be back in the pool on September 16th for the 2024-2025 Fall & Winter season, with registration opening on August 26th! Take care STAQ family, and see you then!
