STAQ's Joey and JP Represent Niagara at the 2024 Eastern Zone SC Age Group Championships
Joey Crisco and JP Sierzant both made a huge splash at the 2024 Eastern Zone Short Course Age Group Championships in Webster NY! Both swimmers qualified to represent Niagara Swimming in a meet comprising of the fastest 14&U swimmers from the entire Eastern Zone of USA Swimming. And both excelled while there!
Joey opened the meet with a new PR by over 2 seconds in the 100 breaststroke to hit a 1:01.87 and secure 9th place overall, then proceeded to follow it up on the final day with a PR in the 100 freestyle of 51.62, and rounded it out by placing 7th overall in the 200 breaststroke with a new PR (beating his old one from 2 weeks prior) of a 2:14.10!
JP had an absolutely wild meet, starting it off with a 4-way tie for 20th place in the 50 freestyle (tied his PR of 23.21...) requiring a swim-off, tied again with a new PR of 23.08 in the swim-off, and then won the second swim-off with yet another PR of 23.01! Most swimmers get up to two chances to race an event in a day (prelims and finals), and JP was able to race three times all in prelims and improve with each one! Fantastic job, and he was a great sport all along as well. On the final day, he was also able to squeak into the B finals for the 100 freestyle and found himself racing in a lane next to his newly-found friend he tied with twice the previous day- the two had a great race and JP was able to move up a spot to secure 19th overall with a new PR of 50.64!
Way to end the first season for STAQ, boys! Let's take a moment to reflect on the successful first season, but only for a minute because new possibilies are just over the horizon! Enjoy some time off, and we're all excited to see what the future brings for STAQ!
