What an intense weekend of competition at Brown University for the 2024 Eastern Zone North Region Speedo Sectionals! STAQ Sent 3 swimmers to represent our club at the championships, and each demonstrated courage in the face of adversity, were humble in their successes, and all grew as both athletes and young adults.

Shoonfon Li dropped over 4 seconds in his 400 IM to hit a lifetime best of 3:59.64 good for 6th place, 13th place in the 200 breast with a PR of 2:04.34, 18th in the 200 backstroke and 28th in the 200 IM. Way to go Shoonfon!

Angie McKane, after battling a recent knee injury and nasty cold, showed the heart of a competitor and true behavior of a champion by swimming her way to a 3rd place finish in the 100 fly, 14th place finish in the 50 free and 31st in the 100 back despite very difficult circumstances.

Marvin Reimsnyder continued to deliver steady performances while growing as a high level competitor, and placed 164th out of 229 in the 100 fly, PR'd in the 100 back with a 1:01.08, finished 152nd in the 50 free with a 22.93, hit a PR in the 100 free of 50.40, and finished it out narrowly missing his PR with a 2:09.08 in his 200 IM.

Katherine McKane continued her recent successes with a 54th place finish in the 100 breast, and 56th place overall in the 400 IM, PR'd in the 200 breast finishing 3rd in the B flight (43rd overall) with a 2:27.86, 105th in the 50 free with a 25.53, and finished the meet up with a 2:16.80 in her 200 IM.

Our swimmers certainly experienced the thrill of victory, yet also the agony of defeat- however they stood by and supported each other along the way, and they have earned our utmost respect. And the best part of it all was Coach Furstoss's undeviating belief on our STAQ athletes! He is our rock. Thank you for all you've done Coach Furstoss!
